Want The Patricide
Refuse the offer and keep fighting alongside Lacra.
MAIN ENDING · LACRA FINALE
To get The Patricide, complete Lacra’s questline through Midnight Reckoning, start the final assault with her, reject Brencis’s betrayal offer and defeat him on Lacra’s finale route.
Make a manual save before starting the assault.
These five quests are the progression that reaches the ending. The last one is the finale itself.
Optional
The Night of Horrors
Branches from Our Rotten Roots but is not required for the ending.
The Night of Horrors runs alongside this chain. It is the Lacra character and romance questline, and it is where the mandrake is found, so it matters for how her story reads — but it is not what unlocks the ending.
No — not for the ending itself.
The Night of Horrors is optional for reaching The Patricide, but it carries Lacra-specific character, romance and ability content. If you care about her best personal outcome, finish it before committing to Midnight Reckoning.
The quest feeds Lacra’s romance and appearance states rather than the finale route. That is why optional for the ending and important for Lacra are both true.
A detail worth knowing
The Night of Horrors ends with a mandrake in Kallias’s lair. Depending on your choice, either Coen or Lacra absorbs its power. The data confirms that branch exists, but it does not close whether it changes her fate later.
Finish any Lacra quests, romance scenes or optional outcomes you still want before telling her you are ready to attack Brencis. Once the assault begins you are inside the finale branch.
Finish Our Rotten Roots, wait one in-game day, then return to Lacra when the quest tells you to meet her for the assault.
“One day” and “the next night” are the same thing
The objective reads “Talk to Lacra in one day” and the journal description reads “I should return to speak with Lacra the next night.” Those are two phrasings of one wait, not two different requirements.
Only three beats decide whether this becomes The Patricide. The rest of the quest is covered in its own walkthrough.
The throne-room conversation is the point of no return. One response keeps Lacra beside you; the other swaps you onto the betrayal route.
Want The Patricide
Refuse the offer and keep fighting alongside Lacra.
Want The Turncoat instead
Accept Brencis’s offer and turn on Lacra.
The accept-offer line is confirmed in the dialogue data as “I accept your offer.” The commonly quoted longer version with an apology is not the production line, so this page paraphrases the other response instead of quoting it.
This is the same fork seen from the other side. Both endings pass through this conversation.
| Your response | Ending |
|---|---|
| Stay with Lacra and fight | The Patricide |
| Betray Lacra and accept Brencis | The Turncoat |
This is the late alternative entry into The Turncoat, so that ending does not depend on the Manumit hideout route alone.
The Turncoat →Yes. Midnight Reckoning contains a recorded outcome where Lacra dies.
The data tracks her survival as its own state that feeds her epilogue, separately from the finale route.
The exact choice that kills her is not closed yet, so this page does not claim one. Save before the assault if her survival matters to you.
The export does not tie her survival to the main ending, so we do not treat her death as a guaranteed lock.
Her survival feeds the epilogue board, while the finale route feeds the main ending: they are separate outcomes in the data. Treat that as what the data shows rather than a promise, and reach the throne room with her alive if you want the obvious version of this route.
Those three closings are the game’s own journal text for this quest. Notice that two of them differ only by family state, which is exactly why the family outcome is tracked apart from the ending.
It can be completed while saving your family, but family outcome is a separate state from the condition that unlocks The Patricide.
Two players can both finish on The Patricide and read different family results. The rescue depends on reaching the finale inside the deadline with the right family state, not on choosing Lacra.
How the 30-day limit works →Yes, if you both defeat Brencis on Lacra’s route and rescue your family before the deadline. They are two separate achievements.
In the Nick of Time is a rescue achievement, not an ending, and this ending does not award it automatically.
No. The Patricide is tied to Lacra’s finale route, not to whether Coen romances her.
Romance and The Night of Horrors can still change her character state and epilogue, which is why they are worth doing for her outcome rather than for the unlock.
Not as a Patricide-specific unlock condition, but leaving major Boyars alive can change or complicate the castle assault.
All three already appear as objectives inside Midnight Reckoning itself, so the honest framing is preparation rather than a gate. Clearing Court Activities first makes the finale cleaner.
Court Activities and Infamy →The route still counts as The Patricide even though the encounter does not keep Lacra beside you the whole way.
So no, you do not have to keep her in the boss room from the first hit to the last. What matters is that you entered and resolved the finale on her route.
Full Brencis boss guide →Answer what you know. Nothing is written to your Ending Calculator unless the finale actually resolved on Lacra’s route.
Answer the questions to check your save.
Nothing answered yet.
Three saves cover this ending and let one playthrough serve several others.
Save 1 — before starting Midnight Reckoning
Finish optional Lacra content and preserve the pre-finale world.
Save 2 — before Brencis’s throne-room offer
This is the Patricide ↔ Turncoat fork. It is the most valuable save on this route.
Master ending save
If Lacra’s and the manumits’ finales are both ready, one save can carry several main endings.
The four main endings are easiest to read by who stands beside Coen at the end.
| Nobody beside you | The Folk Hero |
| Lacra beside you | The Patricide |
| The manumits beside you | The Knyazmaker |
| Brencis’s deal | The Turncoat |
Spoiler-light summary first. Expand for the full outcomes.
