Dawnwalker Item Level Calculator

See which item levels generated gear can roll. Enter your Player Level and the source's Owner Level to get the possible item levels and how likely each one is.

Generated levels are capped at Lv50, so the highest rolls flatten into the cap.

YOUR CHARACTER AND SOURCE

Owner Level may come from a loot owner, an inventory, a region, a quest or another source depending on how the item is created. It is not always an enemy level.

VERDICT

What Should I Expect to Get?

Lv20 is the most likely result.

Generated levels can land anywhere from Lv20 to Lv22. Lv20 carries the largest single share of the roll at 70%.

HOW IT ADDS UP

How Item Level Works

A generated item level is built from three parts, then clamped between Lv1 and the level cap.

DEFAULT ROLL

Default Item Level Roll

Without a custom range, the roll adds no levels most of the time and only occasionally pushes the item above your Player Level.

OWNER LEVEL

What Is Owner Level?

Owner Level is the level supplied by the item's source when the game generates the item. It is the input that lets a high-level source produce higher-level gear than your character would otherwise roll.

The analyzed data confirms Owner Level as the generation input, but it does not map each acquisition source to a fixed level. This calculator therefore keeps Owner Level as a number you set yourself instead of guessing a value from an enemy, vendor or region.

OWNER LEVEL OFFSET

Owner LevelLevels added
50 levels below you-5
5 levels below you0
Same level as you0
8 levels above you0
40 levels above you+15

Values between these points change gradually. Below your Player Level the offset does not add levels.

LEVEL CAP

Maximum Item Level

The cap is Lv50

Generated item levels cannot exceed Lv50 in the analyzed build, and the lowest possible level is Lv1.

High rolls flatten

Near the cap, +1 and +2 rolls can land on the same level, so the highest results bunch together.

The cap is not your level

The cap is a fixed limit. It does not move with your Player Level or with the Owner Level.

ODD RESULTS

Why Do Some Drops Get Forced Back to My Level?

The game has a cooldown system that can temporarily force generated gear to match your Player Level after an off-level roll. While that cooldown is active, the roll and the Owner Level offset are skipped.

In the analyzed build, the compiled default for that setting is 0, which means the behavior is disabled unless the setting is overridden. If you never see your gear forced back to your exact level, this is why.

FAQ

Item Level FAQ

What is Owner Level?

Owner Level is the level supplied by the item’s source when the game generates the item. It may come from a loot owner, an inventory, a region, a quest or another source depending on how the item is created. The analyzed data confirms Owner Level as the generation input but does not map each source to a fixed level, so this calculator keeps it as an explicit input.

Does my player level decide the item level?

Generated gear starts from your Player Level. The final item level is your Player Level, plus the variation roll, plus the Owner Level offset, then clamped between Lv1 and the level cap.

What is the maximum item level?

The analyzed build caps generated item levels at Lv50. Nothing in the normal level generation path can roll above that cap, so the highest results flatten into Lv50.

Can gear roll above my level?

Yes. A +1 or +2 variation roll and a positive Owner Level offset can both push an item above your Player Level. Near the cap the highest rolls are pulled back down to Lv50.

Can an item have a fixed level?

Yes. Some items use a fixed item level instead of level generation. When that happens the game returns the item’s own level and skips the variation roll and the Owner Level offset.

Can a drop be forced back to my level?

Yes. The game has a cooldown system that can temporarily force generated gear to match your Player Level after an off-level roll. In the analyzed build its compiled default is 0, so this behavior is disabled unless the setting is overridden.
