The Patricide
Midnight Reckoning is Lacra's ending quest. It becomes available after Our Rotten Roots, asks you to wait one in-game day before Lacra will move, and ends with a direct finale choice: stay with Lacra and defeat Brencis for The Patricide, or accept Brencis's offer and let the save resolve as The Turncoat. Make a manual save before you tell her you are ready to attack.

Lacra Finale RouteThe throne-room conversation is the point of no return for this finale route.
Six steps, in order. The first two are the ones players get stuck on.
The wait and the day phase are two different rules, not one. "Talk to Lacra in one day" carries no phase; only "Talk with Lacra when you're ready to attack Brencis" is recorded as Night.
The unlock condition and the thing worth doing first are not the same quest.
Required to unlock
Recommended before the finale
The Night of Horrors is its own optional quest and has its own achievement. The data routes it to Lacra's romance and appearance outcomes, not to her survival, so skipping it is not what decides whether she lives.
One in-game day. The quest also records a Night requirement, but only on the second step.

Location
Abandoned Fort
The quest record names the Abandoned Fort in Svartrau. If a guide names another tower for this meet, that is a different landmark, not a rename of this one.
Check these in order before you assume the quest is broken.
The journal sends you to the house from Isbrand's memory, in Svartrau, and down into the ruins beneath the city.
The marker for this objective is recorded as a related target rather than a precise entrance pin, so keep the objective active and follow the in-game marker inside the house.
The first half of the assault is linear. The journal objectives, in order, are:
This is the stretch where a Boyar still standing first changes the encounter list, so do not assume your route matches someone else's journal exactly.
Midnight Reckoning still progresses. Boyars are objectives inside this quest, so clearing them earlier is preparation, never an unlock condition.
You do not need to defeat Ambrus, Bakir or Xanthe before starting the assault.
| Earlier state | What the assault does |
|---|---|
| ambrusDefeated earlier, or left alive | The temple records both outcomes: a straight boss fight, or a fight against his loyal soldiers if he was dealt with beforehand. |
| bakirStill alive when the assault reaches Greifberg | He joins the dungeon leg as the boyar encounter before the castle interior. |
| xantheAlive or not dealt with | She arrives to protect Brencis, and her black magic is what creates the Escape the trap objective later. |
The castle enemy list is therefore driven by your earlier Boyar state. No recorded condition makes clearing them a prerequisite for Midnight Reckoning itself.
Inside Greifberg the route climbs. The recorded objectives are:
Keep resources for the Brencis fight. The vrakhiri climb and the Xanthe fight arrive close together.
Xanthe's black magic warps part of the castle to stop you. The journal lists Escape the trap last, after Defeat Brencis — journal storage order is not play order.
Conditional — Xanthe’s curse
Escape — do not clear
Treat Escape the trap as an objective that appears while Xanthe's curse is active, not a fixed step every route passes in the same place. Its exact position is not closed in the data, so it gets no numbered phase here.
This is the finale decision of the quest. It decides which ending the save resolves to.

The Turncoat
Accepting does not cut to credits on the spot: it moves the save onto the betrayal route, which then plays out.
You leave the Lacra / Patricide resolution and enter The Turncoat ending instead. The quest continues through the betrayal route rather than ending on the spot, but the ending it resolves to is The Turncoat.
Only lines confirmed in the dialogue export are quoted. Everything else is described as an action.
To accept (The Turncoat)
“I accept your offer.”
The exported accept line is short. A longer community version adds a second sentence; treat the short line as the one the game records.
To refuse (The Patricide)
Refuse the offer and keep fighting beside Lacra.
No confirmed "draw your blade" line exists for this scene in the export, so the page describes the action instead of quoting it.
Two phases. The second one is solo, and that is normal for this route.
Phase 1
Lacra fights beside Coen against Brencis.
Phase 2
Coen is moved to Anachora and continues the fight alone.
Watch for
No. The solo second phase is the normal structure. Lacra joins Phase 1, Phase 2 moves Coen to Anachora alone, and finishing it still resolves The Patricide. A solo phase is not the same thing as the solo ending.
Yes. The quest carries a recorded Lacra-death outcome.
Her survival is tracked as its own fact and feeds her epilogue board, while the finale route feeds the main ending. The two are separate, so her death does not by itself replace your main ending.
What is closed
The exact trigger that kills her is not present in the export, so this page does not claim a specific choice or failure kills her.
Nothing records Lacra's survival as a requirement for The Patricide, so her death reads as an epilogue variable layered on the ending rather than a blocker. That is why the page reports her state without using it to pick the ending.
Not in the data. The Night of Horrors routes to Lacra's romance and appearance outcomes, and no chain from it reaches her survival fact here. Skipping it is not what kills her — finish it for her character content, not for a hidden lifeline.
Midnight Reckoning records three journal resolutions. They are quest resolutions, not three different endings.
| Journal resolution | Main ending | Family state |
|---|---|---|
| My family is safe from Brencis now… | The Patricide | Saved |
| I couldn't save my family, but at least they've been avenged. | The Patricide | Dead |
| I've decided to face Brencis without Lacra. | Route change → The Folk Hero once Brencis falls alone | Unknown |
This resolution does not name a main ending by itself. It moves the save off Lacra's escort and onto the solo confrontation — the ending it lands on is The Folk Hero only once Brencis actually falls without an ally.
Family state is a separate axis. It changes the epilogue, never the main ending name.
Answer the finale facts. The checker reads the route, not the ending name, and never guesses when the data is open.

Complete Our Rotten Roots. Midnight Reckoning then appears in the journal and asks you to wait one in-game day.
No. It is not the unlock condition. It is Lacra's optional questline and is worth doing before the finale for her character content and achievement.
The throne-room conversation is. Make a manual save before you tell Lacra you are ready to attack, and finish any optional content first.
Only for the attack-ready talk. The earlier "Talk to Lacra in one day" objective carries no day-phase requirement.
In the house from Isbrand's memory in Svartrau. Go inside and down into the passage beneath the city.
No. Ambrus, Bakir and Xanthe are objectives inside Midnight Reckoning. Your earlier state changes the encounters rather than locking the quest.
He joins the dungeon leg of the Greifberg assault as a boyar encounter.
She arrives to protect Brencis, and her black magic is what creates the Escape the trap objective.
Accepting resolves the save as The Turncoat. Refusing and fighting with Lacra resolves it as The Patricide.
That is the normal structure of this fight. Lacra joins Phase 1; Phase 2 moves Coen to Anachora alone and still resolves The Patricide.
Yes. Her survival is tracked separately from the finale route and feeds her epilogue.
The vampire finale family is not gated on her survival, so her death reads as an epilogue variable rather than a blocker. The exact trigger that kills her is not closed.
No. The final offer can switch the save to The Turncoat, and the third journal resolution moves it to the solo confrontation.
Yes. The quest records both a family-saved and a family-avenged resolution, and family state is separate from the main ending.
Before you tell Lacra you are ready to attack Brencis, and again before you answer Brencis in the throne room.
