Dawnwalker TroubleshootingGuide

Describe what is going wrong. Start with missing requirements and game rules, then check whether the same problem appears in known issue reports.

Issue list updated: Sep 7, 2026

What Problem Are You Trying to Fix?

Examples: “Saving is currently locked” · “Uriashi won’t craft” · “sprint keeps stopping” · “quest won’t progress” · “black screen”

Is This a Bug or a Missing Requirement?

Check the most common causes in order before reloading or abandoning the quest.

  • Time or day-phase rule
  • Missing item or quest step
  • NPC or world state has not advanced
  • Known issue reported by players or addressed in a patch
  • Cause still unclear

Common Dawnwalker Problems

Choose a symptom for the checks, workaround and current patch status that apply to it. A player report alone does not prove the cause is a game bug.

Diagnose

Quest won't progress?

Search a quest or objective first. Wrong stage, a missing item, or a day-phase rule is not automatically a bug.

Possible categories

  • Wrong objective stage
  • Missing required item
  • NPC / character state
  • Day / night condition
  • Unresolved interaction
  • Known patch issue

Do not assume your quest or save is corrupted until you have checked the active objective, required item, NPC state and time of day.

Saving problems

  • Save

    How saving works

Manual, quicksave, autosave and when saving is expected to work.

  • Save

    Saving is currently locked

Exact error diagnosis for the save-lock message.

    Diagnose

For lost progress, first check the latest manual save, quicksave and autosave timestamps.

Can't interact?

Choose what you cannot use, then search the entity. For a missing shop listing or a purchase that will not complete, open the shop diagnosis. Location and quest pages own acquisition details.

What can't you interact with?

Controls & input

Start with the affected input, platform and current game version, then try the relevant checks below.

  • Sprint stopping
  • Deadzone
  • DualSense
  • Input switching
  • Target lock
  • Button mapping

Sprint keeps stopping

Platform: PC · PlayStation · Xbox

Input: Controller · Keyboard / Mouse

Hotfix 1.0.2 included changes for controller dead zones and sprint input on PC. Make sure the game is fully updated first.

Still happening? Continue with controller / reproduction checks. This note does not claim the hotfix fixes every sprint issue.

Performance

Choose the symptom you are seeing. Update the game before testing a workaround that may have changed in a recent patch.

  • Stuttering
  • Frame generation
  • Fullscreen / borderless
  • Shader compilation
  • FPS drops

Crash / black screen

Startup, shader, cutscene and transition failures are not given a universal cause here.

Troubleshooting Questions

Why won't a Dawnwalker quest progress?

Check the active objective, required items, NPC state and day or night requirement first. If every requirement is met, look for a matching known issue or patch note.

Why can't I save?

Saving can be blocked during combat, scripted sequences or other restricted states. Open the saving guide for the exact message and the checks that apply.

Should I reload when an NPC will not talk?

First confirm the correct quest stage, location and time of day. Reload only after the NPC should be available and the interaction still does not appear.

How do I know whether a bug was fixed?

Open the issue card and compare its current status with the latest official hotfix notes linked on this page.
