Gear Upgrades: What to Check
Use the upgrade preview in your game to compare the price and stat change, decide whether to upgrade or replace the item, and troubleshoot a missing upgrade action. The Denarii total itself is no longer a mystery — it is derived from your current level, target level, rarity and slot.

Compare the displayed price with your current Denarii.
4. Preview every stat
Check damage, Toughness, Weight, effects, and any other value shown before accepting.
Rarity, slot and level are now enough to calculate the Denarii upgrade cost exactly, so you can price an upgrade before you visit the service. What still needs your game is whether that service will accept the item at all, and the proficiency-adjusted final stat.
KNOWN MECHANICS
What You Can Calculate Now
The upgrade cost is known for equipment. It takes your current level, target level, the item’s rarity and its equipment slot, and it is the same number the service will ask you for.
Denarii only
Equipment upgrades spend Denarii. The game needs no separate upgrade materials.
Level cap 50
An upgrade target stops at your character’s level cap, so it can be lower than 50 in your own run.
Level-scaled stats
Base damage and Toughness rise with item level. Final values still depend on your character’s proficiency.
Item level and upgrade level are different levels. An item’s item level sets its base stats and its shop price, while an upgrade level is a service transaction target. Because those two are computed separately, this page does not add them into one combined total.

Restores or reforges a named item through a quest.
ITEM TRANSFORMATION
Creates a distinct version of an item rather than simply raising its level.

Mostly Restored Sword of St. Mihai, Restored Sword of St. Mihai, Imbued Sword of St. Mihai are separate item entries, and they do not behave like a normal vendor upgrade.

What Is Still Unclear?
The upgrade cost, the level cap and level-scaled base stats are all known, so this page states them instead of sending you to the preview for arithmetic. What is still unresolved is who performs each upgrade, whether a given service will accept a given item, which rarities it handles, and whether item level and upgrade level are the same axis. Until those are settled, confirm eligibility in the service window.
