The journal can open from more than one on-ramp: recovering St. Mihai’s broken sword, or encountering one of the shard routes in the valley.

1. Search Saint Mihai's cell using Focus Mode for clues about the missing shards.
2. The shattered blade’s shards were taken by kobolds — the three shard routes recover them.
3. Locating the shards is one thing. You still need the rest of the silver sword to reforge it.

The Broken Sword comes from the St. Mihai route in A Monk and a Saint. It is a separate physical piece — not a fourth shard.

Svartrau Cathedral crypt

Look for Albertus in the Middens, find St. Mihai’s crypt under Svartrau Cathedral, and take the damaged sword. This page does not replace that quest’s full steps.

Follow the source quest into the cathedral crypt; there is no separate exact pickup marker for the broken sword.

Each shard is its own encounter near Laslea, Shrike’s Crag, or Tantari. Use the location page to mark which shards you still need and open the available search areas.

The journal places an uriashi blacksmith living alone somewhere north of Parlita, closer to the mountains. The map marks her as Uriash Blacksmith.

Hotfix 1.0.2 fixed this crafting issue. If you are already on that version or later, check the current quest state instead of treating the stall as the old bug.

1. 1. Check game version

   Confirm Hotfix 1.0.2 or later before changing saves.

2. 2. Check sword pieces

   Broken Sword of St. Mihai plus all three Sword Shards.

3. 3. Check quest state

   You should be on the return / reforge stage, not still hunting shards.

4. 4. Check dialogue / objective state

   Talk to the uriashi blacksmith and confirm the journal is asking you to reforge the silver sword.

5. 5. Only then treat as unresolved

   If the version, pieces and journal stage all check out, the remaining stall is not the documented Hotfix 1.0.2 case.

Persuade her to help, then complete the reforge step. Reforging is not the end of the quest.

From the Uriashi Blacksmith, head northwest to the nearby cave blocked by red vines. Break through, clear the cave, climb to the ritual chamber and interact with the red orb to begin the tempering trial.
