A Study in Crimson Walkthrough

A Study in Crimson contains real time-sensitive failure states, but they are not the same timer. Unquenchable Thirst has a verified one-day blood-delivery timer once that delivery stage is active. The main quest also has separate Night/day-phase gating. Do not treat every objective as the same one-day timer.

Before You Spend More Time

Do not leave the Blood Delivery objective sitting unfinished once its timer has started. This quest also contains a separate day-phase-sensitive failure state.

A Study in Crimson Quick Answers

  • Is A Study in Crimson timed?

Parts of it are. Blood delivery uses a one-day timer; other stages use night/day-phase conditions. The whole quest is not one shared one-day fail.

  • Can Blood Delivery fail?

    Yes. Its timer can expire.

  • Is there also a day/night deadline?

Yes. A separate day-phase failure exists.

  • Should I read Warning from Simeon?

Yes if you want the Vicho knowledge/outcome path available.

  • Does this quest affect the ending?

    It affects Vicho’s later ending.

What exactly is timed?

  • Blood delivery → one-day timer once that delivery stage is active.
  • Investigation stages → night / day-phase conditions.
  • Entire quest → do not label every objective as the same one-day timer.

A Study in Crimson Walkthrough

Official objectives are grouped into risk stages. They are not one step per journal line.

Phase 1

Start the Investigation

The journal points you to a much-gossiped shop in Svartrau: Vicho’s Emporium.

  1. Visit Vicho’s Emporium.
  2. Find Vicho, or find the shop’s owner if that objective is current.
  3. Find the source of the noise if you hear something in the shop.
  4. Return to Vicho when ready, or after sunset, if he is waiting.

Phase 2

Follow the Blood Trail / Early Objectives

Once Vicho takes you into the investigation, stay on the official trail. These early steps are not the Blood Delivery timer.

  1. Follow Vicho across the rooftops.
  2. Enter the jeweller’s house and investigate the murder scene.
  3. Find out how Devora and Eli died. Searching the house for extra clues is optional.
  4. Find out what Eli’s key opens, then share your findings with Vicho.

Phase 3

◷ TIME-SENSITIVE Timed

How the Blood Delivery Timer Works

Timer

This stage has a real failure timer.

When Unquenchable Thirst / Blood Delivery becomes active, finish it before spending time elsewhere.

What to do

  1. Find blood for Vicho. The journal says a vial of something more potent than animal blood should keep him satiated for a couple of nights.
  2. Deliver blood to Vicho. This delivery is also timed, and the journal marks it Night.

What not to do

Avoid spending unnecessary time on unrelated objectives while this delivery is active.

If the timer expires

The quest records a failed Blood Delivery state.

After a successful delivery, “Wait until Vicho needs to feed again” is a separate two-day progression wait. It is not a second deadline and does not mean you must deliver more blood immediately.

If the delivery already failed, the journal can ask you to check on Vicho.

Phase 4

Should You Read Warning from Simeon?

Yes. Read it before finishing the relevant Vicho route if you want the information to count toward his later outcome.

Where to Find Warning from Simeon

The letter is a quest readable found during the farm sequence. Official journal name: The Good Samaritan.

  1. Take medicaments to the farm outside Svartrau.
  2. Investigate the farm using Focus Mode.
  3. Find the missing body using Focus Mode if that objective is current.
  4. Read Warning from Simeon when you find the letter.
  5. Return to the medic if that Day objective is current.

Warning from Simeon

Used for: Vicho outcome

What it does

Reading the document records that Coen knows the truth about Vicho.

Long-term effect

This state directly feeds Vicho’s later at-peace epilogue outcome.

Phase 5

Continue the Vicho Investigation

After the early trail, official objectives move through Doctor Simeon’s house, a warehouse, and a confrontation with Vicho.

  1. Follow Vicho to the doctor’s house and approach Doctor Simeon’s house.
  2. Investigate the doctor’s shed using Focus Mode, then see if the key opens the door.
  3. Search for clues using Focus Mode and show the property deed to Vicho if that objective is current.
  4. Find Doctor Simeon. Follow Vicho to the warehouse, or find another way in if needed.
  5. Defeat Doctor Simeon if that combat objective is active, then resume investigation or confront Vicho.

Phase 6

◐ TIME-SENSITIVE Day-phase deadline

How to Avoid the Day-Phase Failure

Day / Night

A later stage has a separate verified failure condition tied to the game day phase. Treat this objective as time-sensitive once it becomes active.

Safe behavior

Complete the active objective before deliberately advancing the day/night phase.

If missed

The quest enters a failure state that can change multiple Vicho epilogue outcomes.

This guide does not invent a day number or hour. The verified fact is that the day-phase failure exists.

Phase 7

Resolve Vicho’s Quest Outcome

These are quest-resolution states from the journal, not separate full-game endings.

  • Possible quest outcome

Vicho keeps living after the confrontation, and the blood-delivery sequence can begin.

  • Possible quest outcome

You stop helping after Vicho’s role in the murders is revealed.

  • Possible quest outcome

The investigation is left unfinished because other matters take priority.
